A tribute to Ian Cockbain

With heavy hearts, we reflect on the passing of our dear Director, Ian Cockbain, who sadly passed away in September 2022.

Ian was a dearly loved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. A keen sportsman, he played for Lancashire County Cricket Club between 1979 and 1983 and became a legend of the Liverpool Competition. He later captained Cheshire Cricket Club and went on to revive the fortunes of both Bootle Cricket Club and Formby Cricket Club.

Ian was a long standing member of the St. James's Place community since 1998, and in 2016 teamed up with Peter Morgan to open our first office in Formby. Together they grew the business exponentially and have since made Cockbain & Associates Wealth Management home to over 30 financial advisers and client servicing support specialists.

Ian was a friend to everyone and particularly passionate about golf, donating a lot of his time and talent on the green to support many charity events for the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation and various other charities. Off the sports field, he was a fervent Everton FC supporter, and could be found on many a matchday at Ray Parr’s famous Goodison Road House.

Those who had the pleasure of Ian’s company over the years will have got to know his unique character which we will always remember.

As we reminisce about Ian, we are reminded of his captivating storytelling, his infectious warmth, and his unforgettable personality. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will forever remain a cherished part of our organisation and our lives.
